A New Lexus Is Born Today: 2027 Lexus TZ Production Begins

There’s a new baby in the Lexus family.

September 28, 2026 marks the scheduled start of production for the all-new 2027 Lexus TZ Premium, giving Lexus something it has never had before: a three-row, all-electric luxury SUV.

That makes today a pretty big day.

The Lexus TZ officially expands the brand’s electric lineup with seating for three rows, standard DIRECT4 all-wheel drive, two available battery sizes, NACS charging, advanced technology, and a completely new place in the Lexus SUV family. The First TZ Models Are Entering Production

According to current Lexus dealer production timing, the first TZ Premium models are scheduled to begin production today, September 28, 2026.

The rest of the family arrives a little later.

TZ Premium Touring and TZ Luxury production are scheduled to begin in January 2027.

Meet the 2027 Lexus TZ Family

The new TZ lineup includes three versions:

TZ 450e Premium AWD

The TZ Premium starts with a 76.96-kWh lithium-ion battery and a manufacturer-estimated 253 miles of range. Lexus

TZ 450e Premium Touring AWD

Premium Touring steps up to the larger 95.82-kWh battery and delivers the longest manufacturer-estimated range in the TZ lineup at approximately 315 miles. Lexus

TZ 450e Luxury AWD

How Much Does the 2027 Lexus TZ Cost?

Lexus currently lists starting prices including Delivery, Processing and Handling of:

TZ Premium AWD — $64,050

TZ Premium Touring AWD — $72,050

TZ Luxury AWD — $80,550

That gives Lexus a three-row EV starting in the mid-$60,000 range, with Premium Touring and Luxury providing additional range, equipment, and luxury features.

And Yes, There’s a 19 kW Charging Option

One particularly interesting factory option is the 19 kW onboard charger, currently listed in dealer pricing information at approximately $1,500.

Why does that matter?

Because it can allow a properly equipped TZ to accept substantially more AC power during Level 2 home charging than an approximately 11 kW setup.

That could be particularly useful on the larger 95.82-kWh battery found in Premium Touring and Luxury models.

But there’s an important catch: your home charging equipment has to be able to provide that much power.

A typical 48-amp Level 2 charger delivers roughly 11.5 kW, while approaching 19.2 kW requires approximately 80 amps at 240 volts.

So the 19 kW option is more of a future-flexibility and high-capacity home-charging feature than something every TZ owner absolutely needs.

What makes the TZ interesting is that Lexus did not simply stretch an existing EV and add another row of seats.
